Banner Advertising

Display or Banner Advertising is the Grand Daddy of them all; it was the internet’s first advertising model. It came along way before AdWords was even dreamt of, it has grown and developed massively over the decades since its introduction and whilst not as popular as it once was it’s still a really useful method of communicating with your target market.

Banner Advertising is just about the closest thing to traditional advertising that you’ll find on the internet. You, the advertiser, buy space on someone else’s website, often a message board or a news site, and then you put your ad in that space. Hopefully if the ad is well designed and targeted, people will click on it and be transferred through to your website.

Like all SEO campaigns, the very first thing you will need to do is understand your audience and where they can be best found online. Then we will all need to agree on some goals for your campaign, lay out exactly what your advert is trying to achieve. After all this has been agreed we will negotiate directly with media agencies on your behalf to get the best space at great prices.

Once a price has been agreed we pass the campaign onto our design team who will fashion an advertisement for you based on your goals and target audience. The banner advert can be either price driven, or designed for brand building or awareness, depending on your campaign objectives. To make all our lives a lot easier there is an industry standard set of banner advert dimensions, which are listed below.

Skyscraper – 120 x 600 pixels

Multiple Purpose Units (MPU) - 300×250 pixels

Banner - 468×60 pixels

Leader board - 728×90 pixels

After all the negotiating and designing has been complete, your campaign is then ready to go live. This is where the real hard work begins. Regular monitoring and analysis is needed to make sure your campaign is producing the results we require. If your banner advertisement isn’t producing the results expected we can do a number of different modifications to improve results. These involve changing the timing and frequency of the banner ads, maybe tweaking the design or even locating to another site. Advertising optimisation is essential, even for popular campaigns, we will always build on your success to ensure results are maintained or even improved for next time.
